iRiff, Therefore …

Mike wants you for iRiffs!

Okay, I realize that this is a new topic on Babanon, and it requires a certain level of background knowledge to appreciate. Frankly, I don’t have the time or the inclination to explain all the ins and outs of Mystery Science Theater 3000, it’s importance to geek kind, and what it hath wrought. Plus I’m kind of fucking lazy. So I’m going to let Wikipedia do the talking for me.

Here’s a quick guide for the clueless in three parts:

Are we up to speed? Excellent. Now to my point!

Rifftrax has announced that they are going to start hosting and selling “iRiffs“, fan-made audios for whatever-the-hell, and anyone can get involved. If you suck, you suck, and no one’s going to be very interested, but if you DON’T suck (and most people think they don’t suck) you have a chance of winning cash prizes and/or working with Mike and the former Bots on a proper honest-to-heck Riff!

I’m Harry F**king Potter!

Remember the fantastic synthesis when you watched Dark Side of the Rainbow (The Wizard of Oz with the sound turned down and Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of The Moon playing at full blast)? It was eerie and creepy and way cool, wasn’t it?

Well now there’s something just as cool circulating the web. It’s called Wizard People, Dear Reader and it’s just as enjoyable. Download the audio files here, find yourself a copy of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, turn the sound down and crank up your copy of Wizard People.

I watched about 1/4 of it last night until my DVD crashed on me, but I intend to give it a full screening sometime over the three-day weekend. I must say the 25% of the movie I watched had me all chortling, giggling and teary-eyed.

Instant cult classic.
